While Twitter must really be excited about seeing Charlie Sheen raking in a million followers in under 25 hours, I would say its a disturbing trend. More and more celebrities who are in the news for all the wrong reasons are in the big twitter league. Twitter is definitely a medium which cant be sidelined, especially for the entertainment celebrity, big or small. Closer to home, twitter has also shown its prowess by almost putting our Shashi Tharoor out of a job. Similarly, a lot of celebs like to start petty fights with each other on twitter. Paris Hilton got into trouble with her DUI cos of a tweet. The list is endless.
Why Charlie Sheen? Well, He's divorced super hot babes like Denise Richards, Has been sued by $2000 an hour hookers, is solely responsible for "two and half men's" astounding ratings and is most probably the most entertaining controversial celebrity of 2010. This trend seems to continue in 2011. By the time you read this, Our Charlie would have gotten over 2 million followers. Twitter in fact didnt even take a few hours to verify his account. Something, generally termed as a slow process.
